YOM KIPPUR Blessed are You, Yehovah our Elohim, King of the Universe, who has granted us life, sustained us and enabled us to reach this occasion.
Yehovah is derived from the root hayah (to exist or to be) and shows His eternal nature – He was “Hayah” He Is “Hoveh” and He will be “Yiheyeh”
Vowels matter – many Hebrew words share consonants and only the vowels differ. Please spread Peace, not Retribution when you use Hebrew. Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has power over life and death; those who indulge it must eat its fruit.
Romans 11:18 then don’t boast as if you were better than the branches! However, if you do boast, remember that you are not supporting the root, the root is supporting you.
πληρόω plēroō Thayer Definition: 1) to make full, to fill up – this means that Yeshua filled up the Torah with meaning. He DID NOT end keeping Torah. He taught HOW to keep Torah.
Genesis 1:14-16 is given as a Hebrew Chiasm – meaning that it folds in on itself with verse 15 being the pivot point. As such we can see that signs=stars, seasons=moon, days/years=sun. “God said, “Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to divide the day from the night; let them be for signs, seasons, days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the dome of the sky to give light to the earth”; and that is how it was. 16 God made the two great lights — the larger light to rule the day and the smaller light to rule the night — and the stars.”
I really care about names as is evident by the content on this website. And Hebrew names in particular, as they carry meaning important to understanding. That being said, I’ve got to come to the defense of the use of Jesus. Using this guide to transliteration we see how his Hebrew name Yeshua became Jesus. When names were written in different languages with different alphabets, they became the best approximation that the receiving alphabet was able to provide. This is the reality of trying to express a name from one language in another language with a different alphabet.
